Floodplain Development Permit Application
Unincorporated areas of Neshoba County located within a Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) according to the latest Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map (DFIRM) require permitting as a condition to development or construction within the floodplain. Permitting is required as a condition to participation in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). Adoption of a Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance and enforcement of floodplain management regulations help to mitigate effects caused by flooding of which Neshoba County is susceptible. Further, Neshoba County would not be eligible for some disaster assistance grants without participating in the NFIP.
Permits may be obtained from the County Administrator in the Board of Supervisors office in the Neshoba County Courthouse. The permitting process must be started before development begins in a SFHA.
